University of Findlay's charterMortar Board welcomes newest chapter

On March 25, Mortar Board's newest chapter was installed at the University of Findlay in Ohio. The group, which initiated 25 members, is Mortar Board's 225th chartered chapter nationally.

The campus, which has an undergraduate enrollment of more than 3,300 students in 60 fields of study, is a wonderful fit for Mortar Board's newest chapter. University President and honorary Mortar Board member, Dr. DeBow Freed explained, “The defining qualities of leadership, scholarship and service are a close match with the purposes of the university.”

Dr. Freed has served as president at two other universities, Ohio Northern University and Monmouth College, both homes to strong Mortar Board chapters. At each, he was very supportive of Mortar Board and remained involved in their activities.

The Findlay chapter, approved unanimously by the Mortar Board National Council in early March, plans to participate in a campus clean-up and recycling program.
