Less than two weeks left to apply for postgraduate fellowships

More than $60,000 is available in Mortar Board fellowships for the 2008-2009 academic year, with applications due on or before January 31, 2008. 

Recipients are chosen for academic excellence, recommendation, promise, financial need and Mortar Board involvement. Any Mortar Board initiate who is furthering their education with post-baccalaureate study, regardless of age, is eligible to apply for fellowships.  Simply complete the online application and have two references (one from Mortar Board) submit a quick online recommendation.

Connect with real members using the Career and Graduate School Network

Moving to a new city?  Trying to choose a grad school?  Not sure about your chosen career field?  Have no fear, Mortar Board members are here…well, everywhere really. 

Using a list of career codes, your zip code and potential graduate schools, the Mortar Board National Office can put you in touch with a helpful member.  The Career and Graduate School Network, made up exclusively of members who have chosen to assist others in need, is maintained by the National Office staff.

Although the system requires the effort of calling 800-989-6266 or e-mailing mortarboard@mortarboard.org with specific information, being put in touch with an actual member is often priceless.  Upon contacting the National Office, you will be provided with a list of members who fit your search criteria, if available.  Likely, you’ll find a mentor, friend or simply some honest advice.

All inducted Mortar Board members can receive a $500 merit-based scholarship to the Washington Internship Institute, which has programs for all majors. 

The Fund for American Studies
One lucky Mortar Board member can be awarded a $1,000 merit-based scholarship to participate in a number of competitive internships in Washington, D.C.

The Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars
Three Mortar Board members have the opportunity to receive a $1,000 scholarship to apply toward housing in one of many available internships.
