Opportunities for involvement

Mortar Board offers numerous opportunities for involvement at multiple levels: 

National Involvement

• Chance to serve as a conference assistant
• Ability to become a part of the influential National Council
• Maintain communications and oversee collegiate chapters as a section coordinator
• Use unique skills as a national committee member or chairperson
• Apply for Mortar Board’s summer internship, where you can learn all about how the national organization functions and assist with preparations for the annual national conference

Alumni Involvement

• Become an alumni sustaining member
• Join an alumni chapter near you
• Start a new alumni chapter in your area
• Become a chapter advisor
• Attend the national conference
• Get listed in Mortar Board’s Career & Graduate School Network to help students in your area learn about your career or help those moving to your area adjust to the city

Chapter involvement

• Become an officer for your chapter
• Alumni can support a nearby chapter by getting on their mailing lists and attending their events and programs
• Become a chapter advisor or administrative liaison
• Serve as a consultant for a collegiate chapter to assist with selections, publicity, event planning and more
• Collegiate members can serve as a chapter’s official delegate to the annual national conference or attend as a non-voting delegate

National Conference

• Attend the national conference, held July 25-27, 2008 in Columbus, Ohio, and benefit from the well-known speakers, network with Mortar Board members from across the nation, and mingle with alumni and national representatives
• Experience targeted programming that is specific to your interests and will help enrich your chapter
• Apply to be a conference assistant and help with the behind-the-scenes planning, interact and advise delegates and enjoy social outings
• Learn about becoming a conference presenter or sponsor to connect with collegiate and alumni members of Mortar Board
• Get to know students from chapters across the nation at interactive sessions and social events
